Novak Djokovic made short work of Bernabe Miralles in the US Open. The Serbian won the showdown 6-4, 6-1 and 6-1 and he has only conceded 11 pots in his two matches in New York.
“He enjoyed a solid run-up to the match and there were initially some good bursts,” said Djokovic.
However, he soon stood his ground against Miralles’ knockdowns and after that it was one-way traffic.
Djokovic will face his compatriot Laslo Djere in the next round.
“Laslo is currently playing good tennis and it is very good for the game in Serbia that we will compete against each other in the third round. So one Serbian player will definitely be in the fourth round!” he joked.
In other matchups, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud shared the bottom spot against Dominic Stricker and Zhang Zhizhen.
Meanwhile, Lloyd Harris is also preparing for his showdown against Carlos Alcaraz on the Arthur Ashe court.
The South African fired a series of punches in his match against Guido Pella and he will undoubtedly have to be at his very best if he wants to stand any chance against the fiery Spaniard.
