Alex de Minaur successfully defended his Mexican Open title when he beat Casper Ruud 6-4 6-4 in the final of the tournament in Acapulco.

It was the eighth ATP title of the Aussie’s career and his 15th match win of the season.

“I didn’t expect it at all. I didn’t feel good at all leading up to the tournament and I had to talk myself up all the time. However, in the final I was able to play my best tennis of the tournament and I am very satisfied with my performance,” said De Minaur.

According to the Australian, he enjoys hitting in this Mexican city.

“Acapulco had only been good to me. I won my first ATP 500 tournament here and I was also able to successfully defend a title for the first time. I feel at home and it’s a wonderful place to visit.”

Frenchman wins in Dubai

Then Ugo Humbert tasted success among the dunes when he won the Dubai Open. The Frenchman beat Alexander Bublik 6-4 and 6-3 in the final to hold up the silverware.

Nor does Humbert simply lose a duel when he advances to the final of a tournament, and he has now won six titles without once being on the losing side.
