One point is also enough for the Lions

A penalty kick, a try and a goal kick in the dying moments of the match sealed the deal for the Lions against the Scarlets.

The Johannesburgers won the clash 24 – 23 in Llaneli – their first win of the latest United Rugby Championship season.

With the hourglass running down, and the Scarlets enjoying a good lead, Sanele Nohamba kicked the ball away almost aimlessly.

The home team’s Steff Evans picked up the ball easily, but his subsequent kick was rushed down by Richard Kriel, while a flying Hencu van Wyk rounded off the move under the posts.

Nohamba was spot on with his goal kick and the Lions won by one point.

  • In an action-packed game in Treviso, the Stormers lost 20 – 17 against Benetton.

The Capetians will have to take matters into their own hands: Mistakes and missed set-pieces were among the biggest contributing factors to their eventual defeat.

The Stormers played in the final of the tournament for two years on a streak, but they have now lost two consecutive games away from home.

They are currently eighth in the official standings.
