Phase 4 does not budge

Eskom has announced that phase 4 load shedding will be in effect until Saturday at 05:00, followed by phase 3 until 16:00.

The power supplier says it will inform the public if the power situation changes drastically.

Unplanned outages took 16,686 MW of capacity out of the grid, while 3,966 MW are currently unavailable due to planned maintenance work.

Generating units each at Camden and Duvha power stations and two units at Kendal power station have been repaired in the last 24 hours.

In the same period, a generating unit at the Medupi power station and two units at the Kriel power station gave up and are off line for repairs.

The delay in the repair work of units each at the Kendal and Majuba power stations as well as two units at the Tutuka power station puts further pressure on the power grid.

“Eskom’s teams are working tirelessly to put the generating units back into service,” says the power supplier.
