A total of 18 suspects were shot dead on Friday afternoon in Makhado (Louis Trichardt) in Limpopo during a shootout with the police.
According to Brig. Athlenda Mathe, police spokesperson, information regarding the incident is still scarce. She did confirm that there was a shootout between the 18 suspects and the police.
Unconfirmed reports suggest these are transit robbers.
“Gen. Fannie Masemola, the national police commissioner, Lt. Gen. Godfrey Lebeya, head of the Falcons, and Lt. Gen. Tebello Mosikili, deputy national commissioner, is on his way to the crime scene,” confirmed Mathe.
“More information will be made available.”
