Thanks to the unit at the Kusile power station that started working again on Saturday after being out of action since October last year, load shedding was suspended until Monday.
RNews earlier reported that a section of the power station collapsed on 23 October 2022 while the unit was closed for repairs.
Almost a year later, the unit was finally commissioned again.
The power supplier says that due to the continued improved generation performance as well as the lower than expected demand for electricity, load shedding will be suspended until Monday at 16:00.
Phase 2 load shedding will be implemented thereafter.
