A group of robbers encountered their enemies when they raided a shop in Robertson in the Western Cape.
Capt. FC van Wyk, police spokesperson, said police officers responded to a business robbery in Reitzstraat on Monday.
A group of robbers attacked a shop and shot and wounded the owner of the shop. A security guard responded after hearing the shots. As he approached the store, the suspects opened fire on him and he returned fire. One suspect was fatally wounded and another injured.
“When the police arrived at the scene, the body of an unknown man was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another suspect with a gunshot wound was also found at the scene. Two firearms and ammunition were seized.”
Another two suspects fled the scene in a getaway car. However, the two suspects were arrested shortly afterwards. They will soon appear together with their wounded accomplice in the Robertson Magistrate’s Court on charges of robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
