SA DJ injured during ‘serious accident’ on flight

Grammy-winning South African DJ Black Coffee is recovering after being injured during a “serious accident” on a flight to Argentina.

Black Coffee (47), whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, “was involved in a serious accident on a flight en route to his scheduled show in Mar del Plata”, reads a statement shared on his social media platforms.

“The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries. We can confirm that he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by family and a team that supports him. Despite the challenges, Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well.”

The MailOnline meanwhile reports that Black Coffee was injured after his private plane experienced severe turbulence and had to make an emergency landing in Montevideo in Uruguay. According to the report, he had to undergo an operation.

Black Coffee received a Grammy Award in 2022 after his album Subconsciously was named best dance or electronic album. He has also won numerous Sama awards and worked with big stars in the international music industry.
