The SA20 tournament is picking up steam and two matches are being played today.

The Joburg Super Kings play against MI Cape Town at the Wanderers at 13:30, after which Sunrisers Eastern Cape at 17:30 against Durban’s Super Giants at St. Georgepark forces measure.

Last night Andile Phehlukwayo’s versatile skills ensured that the Paarl Royals were able to beat the Pretoria Capitals by 27 runs.

The 27-year-old Protea player first excelled with the bat and his 28 unbeaten runs from 14 deliveries provided the necessary momentum injection towards the end of the Paarl innings.

He then took the important wickets of Rilee Rossouw and James Neesham to restrict the Capitals to 133/7 in his allotted 20 overs.

“It was good to be on the field. I have worked hard on my game and I try to improve every day. Fortunately, things now worked out nicely and I was able to contribute to the team’s success,” said Phehlukwayo.

In contrast, Neesham believes that the Royals bowled well.

“It wasn’t an ideal batting pitch, but you certainly can’t expect something like that with every good game. I think we did well to restrict them to 160 runs, but they bowled superbly and it was especially difficult for the new batsmen to get going,” said the Capitals captain.
