Scotland’s Hollie makes Six Nations debut

Hollie Davidson will become the first woman to act as an assistant referee in a Six Nations match when England take on Wales at Twickenham.

The 31-year-old Scot used to be in charge of, among other things, the World Cup final between England and New Zealand’s women’s rugby teams.

“It is a very great honor to be named as one of the assistant referees in the Six Nations tournament. To become the first female match official to achieve such a feat is something I am very proud of,” said Davidson.

Andrea Piardi will also become the first Italian to be in charge of a Six Nations match when he enforces law and order in the showdown between Ireland and Wales in February.

South Africa’s Jaco Peyper is in action on March 9 when Italy play Scotland in Rome. Marius van der Westhuizen is the television referee in the same showdown.
