Shoprite driver shot dead in robbery


The police in Limpopo have launched a major manhunt after a 26-year-old manager of a Shoprite Usave store was shot dead at Shihoko in Letsitele on Wednesday.

The victim has since been identified as Shaile Chipape.

Col. Malesela Ledwaba, police spokesperson, says a group of four suspects allegedly entered the store around 19:00 and demanded money from the manager.

“The driver was shot in the process and died at the scene. Another five employees were assaulted and suffered minor injuries.”

The suspects reportedly looted 5 kg of barbecue suits, three mobile phones and R650 in cash after they were unable to open the safe.

The suspects had already fled the scene when the police arrived.

Lt. Gen. Thembi Hadebe, provincial commissioner in Limpopo, has ordered that the suspects responsible for these heinous acts be tracked down and arrested.
