Snow is expected from Sunday evening to Monday over parts of the Cape Provinces, which may spread to the Eastern Cape and Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday evening.
According to the South African Weather Service, snow is expected on most Western Cape mountain ranges on Monday. Snow will cover the mountains of the Hex River Valley (including Matroosberg, Winterhoek) and Hottentots-Hollandberge from Sunday evening and will spread over the southern parts of Namakwa in the Northern Cape (Sutherland and vicinity) later in the evening.
Snow of 5cm – 10cm is expected around Sutherland and the Hex River Ranges.
Snow is expected over the Swartberge and other mountains in the Little Karoo (near Uniondale) from Monday and will spread to the south-western mountains of the Northern Cape as far as Rooiberg and the mountains near Springbok.
According to the Weather Service, there is even a small possibility of light snow on the peaks of Table Mountain and the peaks of the Outeniekwa and Langeberg on Monday.
Light snow is also expected over the mountains in the northern Eastern Cape later in the day and over the Drakensberg on Monday evening.
