So take bowlers, say Faf and Leus

Rain and a shortened game did not stop the Joburg Super Kings from achieving a resounding victory at Newlands in the SA20 tournament.

With Faf du Plessis and Leus du Plooy at the helm of affairs, the Johannesburgers fell short of the winning target of 98 runs in eight overs against MI Cape Town.

The two opening batsmen laid about the long-stem and the winning runs were scored in the sixth over.

Du Plessis was named the player of the match for his unbeaten fifty off just 20 deliveries. His fireworks display included three sixes.

It was the former Protea captain’s first fluent innings in the latest version of the SA20 tournament and after his elbow surgery.

“When you haven’t played cricket for a while (in the run-up to the tournament), you struggle a bit with your rhythm. Yet I knew that it would only take one innings for everything to fall into place,” said Du Plessis.

The Super Kings are currently fourth in the official standings with 13 points after eight matches.
