A multidisciplinary team from the Falcons on Wednesday caught a transit robber who is connected to two robberies.
According to Capt. Christopher Singo, spokesperson for the Falcons, the police spotted a Toyota Fortuner with five suspected transit robbers on the N6 highway near Reddersburg in the Free State.
“The suspects saw the police and jumped out of the vehicle and sped off in different directions,” says Singo. “The police chased the suspects and arrested a 41-year-old man.”
It has been established that the Toyota Fortuner was apparently stolen in September last year in Parkview, Gauteng.
“The suspects are connected to a transit robbery that took place in Lady Grey, Eastern Cape.”
The Toyota Fortuner is also linked to another transit robbery that took place in May this year at a shopping center in Bloemfontein.
The suspects were handed over to the Hawks in the Eastern Cape for further investigation.
