Ilán van Staden, who gained originality fame for his roles in the musicals, The Vow and The Capelineundergoes a heart procedure on Friday.

This comes after Ilán during one of The Capeline ‘s shows collapsed in May last year.

“I wouldn’t say that I was overworked, but I was definitely in a rhythm of eating, sleeping, theatre. It’s a wonderful rhythm to be in, but that given day I was maybe a little dehydrated and overtired,” Ilán told RNews earlier.

In the last scene of the second act, a couple of players had to sing a song while doing severe exercises. By the end of the scene, Ilán realized that something was drastically wrong. He asked the stage manager if he could stand outside for a bit during the break, but collapsed before he could catch his breath properly. His heart beat 226 beats per minute.

Since this incident, Ilán has gone to see several doctors to get behind the hatchet. He has since been diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, a heart condition that causes an abnormally fast heartbeat.

“As a 28-year-old young man, I have to go in for a heart procedure,” Ilán shared on Instagram.

Although Ilán must undergo the procedure, his cup overflows with gratitude.

“Soon after (the collapse), the favors started to pour out. Immediately afterwards, wonderful people contacted me on Facebook and pointed me in the right direction in terms of the surgeons to see. I can honestly stand here with a grateful heart.”
