Third suspect arrested for drugs to minor children

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with drug trafficking to minor children in Bloemfontein.

Aol. Fikiswa Matoti, spokesperson for the directorate for priority crime investigations (the Falcons), says the man was arrested at his flat in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Residents of Thaba Phatswa, east of Bloemfontein, on 12 October 2021 called the Falcons to an urgent community meeting where they complained about alleged drug dealers in the town. “They mainly complained about the use of mandrax and crystal methamphetamine by minor children.”

The Falcons registered project Dead Road and several operations were carried out. An illegal firearm was purchased during one of the operations.

Barend Jansen (57) and Edrick Morrison “Marshall” Brummer (58) were already arrested on 20 February 2024 in connection with the same investigation. Hull appeared in the Tweespruit Magistrate’s Court on 14 March 2024 and was released on bail. Jansen was released on bail of R17 000 and Brummer on bail of R20 000.

The third suspect, the 42-year-old suspect, will appear in the Exelcior Magistrate’s Court on March 18 on charges of drug trafficking and illegal trafficking in firearms and ammunition.
