This is what load shedding looks like next week

Henry

In the coming week, no load shedding will be introduced until 16:00 in the afternoon, unless something unplanned happens, Eskom said in a short notice on Sunday.

However, Phase 3 load shedding will apply from 4pm to midnight every day.

This phase also takes effect on Sunday (today) at 16:00.

Eskom says 16,524 MW of capacity is currently unavailable due to unplanned breakdowns, while a further 4,376 is being given over to maintenance.

Although three generating units at the Hendrina, Kriel and Medupi power stations have been brought back online over the past 24 hours, generating units at Arnot (1) and Medupi (1) have been switched off for repairs.

There are also delays in the restoration of generating units at Grootvlei (1), Hendrina (1) and Tutuka (1), contributing to further capacity problems.

South Africans have been urged once again to use power sparingly and switch off appliances such as geysers between 5pm and 9pm to ease pressure on the system.
