Eskom has announced that phase 3 load shedding will be introduced from Sunday at 16:00 until Monday at 05:00.

The load shedding phases will then alternate between phase 1 and 4 until Wednesday.

“Phase 1 load shedding will be implemented on Monday from 05:00 to 16:00, followed by phase 4 which will then be in effect until Tuesday at 05:00,” says the power supplier.

“This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice.”

A total of 15,050 MW of capacity is currently unavailable, while 4,434 MW is dedicated to planned maintenance work.

In the last 24 hours, a generating unit at the Camden and Duvha power station has been brought back online.

At the same time, a generating unit at the Medupi power station was taken off line for maintenance work.

Two generating units each at Kendal and Tutuka power stations have not yet been brought back online, and at this stage this is causing capacity challenges.

Eskom said its crews are working non-stop to bring all these generating units back online.
