Three people were arrested on Thursday after three Thai women were rescued from a house in Garsfontein in the east of Pretoria. The suspects are suspected of possible involvement in human trafficking.

According to col. Katlego Mogale, spokesperson for the Falcons, was followed up on information after one of the women escaped from the house.

“The woman arrived at the Thai embassy and said that she was being held against her will for sexual exploitation,” says Mogale. “Law enforcement and social services became involved in the matter.”

The information was followed up and contact was made with one of the victims who was apparently also held in the house.

“Two more victims were rescued after members of the Hawks, the Tshwane Metro Police and the police dog unit raided the house.”

The suspects will soon appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of human trafficking.

Maj. Gen. Ebrahim Kadwa, the head of the Hawks in Gauteng, praised the investigation team for their good work in rescuing the three women and arresting the suspects.
