‘Tshwane needs more investors’ – FF Plus

Henry

The Freedom Front Plus requested during a council meeting of the Tshwane metro that more should be done to attract investors to the metro in order to promote job creation and the economy.

The party says it is extremely concerned about the current performance objectives of the Tshwane Economic Development Agency (Teda) as there is a significant decrease in investors in the Tshwane metro.

Peter Meijer, FF Plus board member and chairman of the economic development and spatial planning committee in this metro, believes Teda plays an important role in promoting economic growth and sustainable development with the specific aim of attracting investors.

“A relationship is established with them (the investors), the metro is marketed for its investment possibilities and assistance is provided in the acquisition of land use rights for development projects. Unfortunately, Teda has so far made little impact in attracting new investment.

“There are clear shortcomings in the process of connecting with investors, marketing the city and providing the necessary support.”

Meijer requests that there be a renewed focus on the development of effective strategies to attract new investors and make it rewarding for existing investors to expand their operations.

“If the metro is purposefully marketed as a unique investment destination, it will mean a much-needed economic boost with accompanying job creation.

“Teda has the potential to make a positive impact in this regard and the FF Plus is prepared to work with the agency in order to achieve its goals.”
