Two people died early Friday morning in a serious accident on the R50 near the Delmas road outside Pretoria. Due to inclement weather, a second collision occurred shortly afterwards in the traffic congestion that caused the initial accident.
Several vehicles were involved in this secondary accident.
Kyle van Reenen, spokesperson for Emer-G-Med, says paramedics were called to the scene of the accident on the R50 early in the morning. Two people suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two more people were initially treated at the scene for moderate injuries and then taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Van Reenen says bad weather and a traffic jam probably resulted in the second accident on the R50. Six people were injured during this accident and were taken by ambulance for further medical treatment.
