Two victories in a row!

The national women’s sevens team is shedding the cannon fodder label. The South Africans won two consecutive matches at the Perth sevens tournament today.

First, they had a good 14 – 12 win against Great Britain, after which they beat Spain 12 – 7.

The team now plays against Brazil on Sunday at 05:31 for ninth place in the tournament.

To put the South Africans’ latest performances in perspective: The victory against the British was barely their second victory in 13 attempts of the new sevens season.

Maria Tshiremba will long remember her try against Great Britain, while Nadine Roos often excelled with the kick.

Her successful field goal attempts played a crucial role in the victories.
