Peter Fouché, a former policeman from the Eastern Cape, is so passionate about Ukraine’s cause that he decided to get involved in this country’s war against Russia. He helps paramedics on the front lines these days to get wounded soldiers to safety as quickly as possible and to administer emergency treatment.
Fouché (48) was part of the speed patrol in Port Elizabeth years ago before he emigrated to England. Here he worked as a construction worker just before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
In the video below, Fouché tells why he decided to assist Ukraine in the war, what his life-threatening work here entails and what his future plans are. All this while bombs explode a few meters away from him.
Fouché gave RNews a tour of what it looks like in his bunker.
