Watch: Kolbe is hot in Japan

Cheslin Kolbe put on his jet boots and followed up a kick excellently to score his first try in the colors of Suntory Sungoliath in Japan.

In the 63rd minute of the game against the Kobe Steelers, the South African blitz capitalized on Rakuhei Yamashita’s blunder to complete a blitz run perfectly.

It just goes to show you that one should never lose heart when chasing a kick; even if the kicker’s effort was just pointless.

The Sungoliath team finished the showdown with 44 – 36.

The 30-year-old Kolbe signed a contract with the Japanese club last year after exhibiting his skills in France – for Toulon and Toulouse – for six years.

“I am very excited to confirm that I will be joining the Suntory Sungoliath set-up. This is a new chapter and challenge in my career and I want to thank everyone who made the move possible,” Kolbe said at the time.

In other matches, Kwagga Smith played a cracking hit for the Shizuoka Blue Revs in their 62 – 13 win against Honda.

The Springbok loose forward scored two tries in the showdown and he was deservedly named the player of the match.
