Some of the country’s greatest African artists such as Riaan Benadé, Appel, Ricus Nel, Bok van Blerk, Jay, Demi Lee Moore, Dodo Nyoka, Eloff, Lianie May, Karlien van Jaarsveld and Samantha Leonard, are ready to perform at the Voortrekker Monument on 23 September to take horns.
Not only are this group of prestigious artists excited to share their Afrikaans hits on the GrootJol stage, but also to support the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup match against Ireland.
“It’s going to be a massive party and one big Bok-jol. We are going to pay tribute to the Goats with Leon Schuster’s new song, ‘Goat Machine’,” says the popular “Dance in the rain” singer Karlien van Jaarsveld.
Bok van Blerk says he is very much looking forward to the GrootJol. “Come together and watch the rugby with the country’s greatest African artists!”
“It’s going to be an incredible visit to the wonderful Voortrekker monument. Make sure you get your ticket,” says the “Stoutgat” hitmaker Jay.

Appel says you should not wonder where you will watch the rugby this coming Saturday. “I know, at the GrootJol, at the Voortrekker monument. Bring all your pals, because we’re going to do the biggest Springbok serenade ever.”
Afrikaans music lovers in the Pretoria area who like the outdoors, long arm dancing, food stalls and hit music can feel free to mark September 23 on the calendar for a great party.
This is the sixth and last GrootJol after it kicked off in Cape Town earlier this year and had thousands of festival-goers on their feet in Cape Town, Hartenbos, Port Elizabeth, Vanderbijlpark and Potchefstroom.
The GrootJol, which took place in Hartenbos last December, made thousands of people buzz on social media and that is precisely why it was decided to take this festival to the public.
In addition, every ticket holder of this concert also stands the chance to be eligible for Afrikaans is Groot tickets with exclusive VIP treatment which includes accommodation and a special backstage tour.
Tickets are only available at iTickets with a 10% discount if you buy via WhatsApp through the GrootChat – click on this link.
