Win: Velvet concert brings together five top musicians

Henry

After the first successful Fluweel concert that was presented in October 2022 at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, audiences can once again look forward to a unique musical experience with some of the leading Afrikaans music stars.

On September 9, NĂ dine, Jak de Priester, Ruhan du Toit and Ray Dylan will be seen together on stage at the Theater of Marcellus for one night only, with performances that include some of their biggest hits.

The 11-year-old singer Liney, a native of Ellisras, will also have the opportunity to showcase her musical talent at the show. Liney’s passion for music began to develop at the age of two.

When she sings on this giant stage later this year, Liney will especially think of her mother who died due to Covid-19.

“It is my greatest wish to make the dream that my mother cherished for me come true by performing on such a big stage for the first time.”

Musicians will perform their own hits, as well as some new arrangements with a full orchestra. The band consists of some of the best South African musicians, with Vinnie Henrico on drums, Denny Lalouette on bass, and Barry Snyman on saxophone and flutes.

Several duets are planned for the show, some of which will be seen on stage for the first time. A surprise or two, such as a performance by the piano virtuoso Rocco de Villiers, also awaits audiences.

“There are various music concerts that are offered these days, but the Fluweel show brings something real and unique. Although there is room for 1,000 people in the audience, the show will be an intimate and luxurious musical experience for each audience member,” says Johan Heystek, who directs the production.

The Velvet concert is presented by Numinous 102 and AE Switch. Tickets cost between R200 and R360 per person and are available online at Vtickets.
