According to the Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa), the woman collapsed at the airport on Monday evening.

The woman and her daughter arrived at OR Tambo airport from Cape Town on a South African Airways (SAAL) flight.

She collapsed shortly after 19:00 while she and her daughter were waiting in the domestic arrivals area.

“Despite all efforts to revive the patient, she was pronounced dead at the scene,” reads the statement.

“At this stage, it is suspected that a cardiac arrest could have led to the woman’s death, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.”
