A farmer from Trichardt in Mpumalanga came across the body of a woman near his farm on Sunday. She has presumably been dead for some time.

Brig. Selvy Mohlala, police spokesperson, says the farmer informed the police at 08:00 on Sunday that he came across an unknown woman’s body near his farm.

“Police officers and emergency service personnel went to the scene where they examined the lifeless body of the woman,” he says.

“The victim suffered several head injuries, as well as injuries to her stomach and hands.

“The blood around the body was already dry, which indicates that the body was dumped next to the farm some time ago.”

Mohlala says the woman is “light in complexion”, between 20 and 35 years old, 1.4 m tall and was wearing blue jeans and a blouse with a floral pattern.

“A few meters away from the victim, the officers came across shoes, soft drink and blood. These items will be carefully examined.”

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a case of murder was filed at the Trichardt police station.

No one has yet been arrested in connection with the murder.

The provincial management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) described the incident as “senseless” and undertook to do everything possible to locate the deceased’s loved ones, as well as those responsible for her death.
