Women’s team doing LA proud

South Africa’s women’s sevens team did indeed lose badly against New Zealand, but good performances against Fiji and Brazil mean that they will play the USA later tonight in the quarter-finals of the Los Angeles sevens tournament.

The team is currently in last place in the official rankings after struggling to make it to the top in Vancouver last weekend.

But they showed earlier in Perth that they have the ability to win games when they dealt with Spain and Great Britain.

In contrast, the Blitzbokke’s mourning continues.

The South Africans lost badly against Ireland and Argentina, after which they beat Spain by three points. However, they fell off the bus again against Samoa.

The Blitzbokke will now face off against Canada tonight at 21:48 for the 11th place in the tournament. One would never say that this team held up the silverware in Dubai.
