Former Pres. Jacob Zuma is officially the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming election.

Bonginkosi Khanyile, youth leader of the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party, announced the nomination at a media conference on Wednesday.

“The only man in the MK we will vote for in the upcoming election… is Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma.

“Pres. Zuma is the official face of MK,” Kanyile announced.

However, this nomination comes as no surprise, since Zuma is listed as the party’s no. 1 candidate is listed.

Khanyile made it clear this afternoon that the MK party is not prepared to enter into discussions with anyone regarding its nomination of Zuma as its presidential candidate.

“Don’t call us in hotels at night. Don’t call us in the clubs at night. Don’t buy us nice things and try to impress us. We are unavailable.”

It is highly unlikely that Zuma will be allowed to serve as head of state again, since a candidate may not serve more than two terms as president of a country. Zuma did not serve two full terms, as in 2018, amidst allegations of corruption, he was asked by the ANC to resign before he could complete his second term.

Even if this technicality is bypassed, his criminal record prevents him from running for president of the country.
