Police in Despatch have appealed to the public for assistance in their investigations after two armed suspects robbed the Despatch Liquor Mart along Botha Street, Despatch, on Monday afternoon, at about 13:00. No one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made so far.

It is alleged that two men stormed into the Despatch Liquor Mart and threatened the manager and her assistant with firearms.

“An assistant was forced into a cooler room while the manager was held at gunpoint and forced to open the cash register and empty them of an undisclosed amount of money into plastic bags,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

He added that the suspects also forced the manager into a cooler, and then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, a few bottles of liquor and a cell phone.

After the suspects had fled, the manager managed to contact the police and a case of armed business robbery was opened.

Police are following up leads and appeal to local residents, who might have knowledge of the suspects to come forward and assist in their investigation.
