Jayde Panayiotou murder case: Christopher's alleged mistress reportedly turns state witness

MAY 19, 2015

The lawyer representing a woman alleged to be murder-accused Christopher Panayiotou's mistress has reportedly confirmed that she has turned state witness ahead of his bail hearing tomorrow.

Panayiotou stands accused of masterminding the murder of his wife, Uitenhage teacher, Jayde Panayiotou.

Advocate Danie Gouws, who is representing Panayiotou’s alleged girlfriend, Chanelle Coutts, reportedly told EWN that he had been informed by the prosecution that his client will be called to testify for the state.

“At this stage she’s a state witness and I’m just here to protect her interests,” Gouws said.

Last week, Panayiotou made mention of Coutts who is the personnel manager at one of his businesses. He said that she has been harassed and even threatened with violence over her alleged affair with him.

Affair was common knowledge

Earlier this month, Coutts’ mother declined to comment on her daughter’s questioning in connection with the case.

However, several Algoa Park residents and employees of Panayiotou said the affair was ‘common knowledge’.
