During this year’s Glastonbury music festival, the sun apparently finally set on the celebrated British musician, Sir Elton John’s concert performances in his home country.

The 76-year-old pop superstar attended this famous music festival on Sunday, and so did the British leg of his dazzling Farewell Yellow Brick Road-farewell tour, concluded.

His last concert will be on July 8 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The BBC reports that this tour, which kicked off in 2018 and includes more than 300 shows, has grossed nearly $887 million (more than R14 billion) – making it the highest-grossing music tour of all time.

“This is a very special and emotional night for me, as it may be my last show in England, in Great Britain,” the singer told the crowd of around 120,000.

“I better play well and entertain you decently, because you’ve been on your feet for a long time now,” he added.

Sir Elton treated the audience to some of his biggest hits including “Candle in the Wind”, “Crocodile Rock” and “I’m Still Standing”.

He dedicated “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” to his “friend and inspiration” George Michael. Michael, who died on Christmas Day in 2016, would have celebrated his 60th birthday on Sunday.

The singer closed with a soaring rendition of “Rocket Man”, complete with fireworks, and thanked his fans “for 52 years of love and loyalty”.

“It was an incredible trip and I had the best, best time. I will never forget you. You are in my head, my heart and my soul.”

Although the “I’m Still Standing” singer is finalizing his concert tours, this does not mean that new music will not flow from his pen.

His husband, David Furnish, wore before the Glastonbury concert Sky News said that John will not stop making music after his farewell tour. He also revealed that a new album is currently being created.

Lana’s tardiness disappoints crowd

The American singer Lana Del Rey disappointed the Glastonbury crowd when she was almost half an hour late for her show.

“My hair is taking so long to do, so sorry I’m so late,” the “Summertime Sadness” singer explained on stage.

The BBC reports that her microphone was switched off at midnight and she was unable to sing several hits, including “Summertime Sadness”, due to Glastonbury’s signature strict curfew.

Her fans tried to comfort her by singing her song, “Video Games”, a cappella when she had to leave the stage.

Lewis Capaldi’s performance is cut short by Tourette’s syndrome

Glastonbury crowds cheered on Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi on Saturday when his show was cut short due to his battle with Tourette’s syndrome.

RNews earlier reported that this 26-year-old, who is best known for his hit song, “Before You Go”, announced his diagnosis in 2022 via Instagram.

Tourette’s syndrome is an inherited neurological disorder that causes people to make involuntary facial twitches, muscle contractions or sounds, for example to constantly cough or clear their throat.

It occurs more in men than women, and in some cases can lead to Coprolalia (uncontrolled use of crude language).

Capaldi had to leave the stage and shortly afterwards announced on social media that he would be taking a break from the stage after also canceling performances earlier in the year due to his health challenges.
