Just then Farmer looking for a wife-fans think farmer Francois and Vanessa’s excitement ends with wedding planning, the biggest news of all comes: Vanessa is pregnant, and it’s a boy.

The couple, who met on the 15th season of the popular kykNET reality series, announced their engagement in May this year. However, they already got engaged on December 9 last year.

The brunette Vanessa (45) tells RNews that she and Francois did not count on the fact that they would soon be parents of their own little bull.

“We laugh when people ask, because Francois thought we were too old,” laughs Vanessa, who kicked the ostrich farmer from Oudtshoorn out from under him.

“At one point I thought I might be going through my transitional years early. I went to the doctor and got confirmation that I was pregnant. Francois was in the clouds, but I needed a few days to recover.

“Francois kept saying it was our love baby, and he was hoping for a boy. He even made jokes about a little sister or little brother after this one, which I didn’t find very funny at the time.

“Of course I now realize that this child is the greatest blessing, a soul that God lends us to raise.”

Vanessa and Francois both have grown children from previous marriages. Francois’ son is 28 and Vanessa’s daughters are 24 and 21.

“Francois’ son is very excited precisely because he was an only child and wanted a little brother from the beginning. I can’t wait to see that bond form.

“My two daughters are overjoyed with the fact that they are going to have a little brother and are already spoiling him so much. It’s very special to me because all three are so looking forward to their little brother and are so excited with us for this precious gift.”

She says that she and Francois have been through many things together in the past year. Because her pregnancy is high-risk due to her age, they decided to keep the news quiet for a while.

“I think being pregnant at 45 is slightly different than when I was last pregnant at 24. I’m so blessed to be healthy, but I’m not one to sit still, so I just had to slow down my way of jumping up quickly to help. When people fuss, I always say that I’m pregnant and not sick.”

However, she shared her baby news without hesitation at work. “My maternity leave starts next month and my workplace is incredibly supportive. I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m pregnant, and I’m way too excited and proud of this love baby.”

Also because they are older, she kept the news in her inner circle for a while. “We had to wait with the preparation and I had to behave quieter than normal. As time went on, we slowly started preparing emotionally, as well as making sure he had everything he was going to need. Online shopping is the best! Now he can come, we are ready for him.”

The baby boy will be called Zion, a name that came to her one night in a dream where the Lord placed a baby in her hands.

“He then told me to call him Zion. During our sonar at 12 weeks, the dream, as well as 1 Peter 2:6, occurred to me: ‘Look, I am laying in Zion a chosen and precious corner stone and those who believe in Him will never be put to shame’. I realized this baby was called to great things.”

They plan to raise Sion on the farm and look forward to him being the youngest of all the farm managers’ children.

“It’s so peaceful and quiet on the farm, away from the city’s noise. I believe that Sion will thrive here, although he will always make his own choices about his future when he grows up.”

Vanessa believes that Francois will be a wonderful father, who will cherish his baby son. “Our wish for Zion is that he will know the Lord in all his ways. He must be strong and God-fearing, but also realize every day that he is never alone and that he can tackle anything and make a success of it.

“Even though his arrival caught us a little off guard, he now gets priority in all our future plans. For now, our wedding is postponed and his interests come first. Our wedding, just like our son’s arrival, will have its own place in our love for each other as well as our promise before God. For now, our Zion is enough for us.”
