A fatal collision on the N11 near the Sekgaggapeng bridge in Limpopo claimed the lives of two primary school students.

Preliminary information indicates that the victims were learners from Potgietersrus Primary in Mokopane, Limpopo.

According to Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, provincial MEC for education, the accident happened in the early hours of Monday morning.

“We wish learners from Potgietersrus Primary and Potgietersrus Comprehensive a speedy recovery. My prayers are with the grieving families, as no parent should ever experience the pain of losing a child. May the victims’ souls rest in peace. I also wish all the injured learners a speedy recovery.”

Mokopane Primary School made a post on Facebook to reassure worried parents and guardians after the accident.

“It is with sadness that we inform you of a terrible motor vehicle accident this morning on the N11 at the Ngwaditse bridge (a few meters from Sekgaggapeng crossing) involving scholar transport.

“Our learners were not affected by the accident and there was already communication with the authorities in Mahwelereng and Mokopane.”
