After a long and stressful week; thank goodness the weekend has finally arrived! Tonnes of events are lined up as August nears its end. So go out and enjoy what the Eastern Cape has to offer this weekend.

PORT ELIZABETH

Friday 26th

  • Collegiate Girls’ High School will be hosting a Circus Carnival Charity Bazaar from 2:30pm till 5pm.   • Hooters is hosting a PE Beach Body Contest from 7:30 till late.   • Balizza is hosting their first ever themed R5 Fiesta: The Black Light and UV Laser Party. Saturday 27th

  • Join the PE Hobie Beach parkrun, which takes place every Saturday at 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a fun run along the beach.
  • The Elephant Walk Restaurant and Country Club is hosting a Medieval Banquet at the Elephant Walk Castle from 7pm. All guests must be in medieval attire and bookings must be made in advance.   • The Family Day YAP (Young Animal People) Fun Run will take place at Alexander Road High School. Registration is from 6:30am and the race begins at 7:15am.   • The Rhodes University’s School of Journalism and Media Studies in partnership with Corporate South Africa, development agencies and media associations is hosting the 2016 Highway Africa Conference. The event will take place from 7am and end on Monday at 7pm. For nineteen years the Highway Africa conference has been at the centre of Africa’s debates on journalism, media and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Friday 26th

  • The Chicken Run Golf Day takes place every Friday from 7am to 3pm. You pay for and play nine holes, and then get nine free. There are Rotisserie chicken vouchers from Woolworths up for grabs.

  • The J-bay Cycle Club – Social Rides, is a great way for you to get into the fresh air. This is a permanent event which takes place every Saturday morning at 6am.   • Kouga Lions Club Flea Market is a weekly event that takes place at the Saverite parking grounds, St Francis Rd. There are some great fresh produce to buy and so much more. Go and enjoy a lovely morning.


PORT ALFRED

Friday 26th

  • The Duckpond Morning Market takes place every Friday and Saturday morning. You can purchase some great goodies, including jams, pickles, second-hand books, cakes, second-hand clothes, quiches, crochet, knitting, plants and more!
  • The Lounge Square is raising funds for the Blake Squires Cancer Fund . There will be an entrance fee of a minimum of R30 (You can however donate more). The Port Alfred Masonic Lodge will be making Prego rolls and all proceeds will go towards the fund. Meat is kindly being donated by Country Meat Market. Saturday 27th

  • The Woodlands Market takes place every Saturday beneath the trees at Woodlands Cottages and Backpackers in Grahamstown Road. Here you can enjoy some arts, crafts, delicious foods and more. The market opens at 8am.
  • For the first time in three years, comedian Neville Williamson will be performing at the Port Alfred River and Ski Boat Club from 7pm. The show will be two hours long and have a supper interval. Tickets are R150 per person and R1500 per table, tickets are limited so make sure to book yours early.
