Police appeal for information after 95-year-old Uitenhage woman raped and murdered
Police in Uitenhage on Friday appealed to the public for assistance with information that might help them solve a case where a 95-year-old woman from the town was found murdered in her home in Luyt Street, Uitenhage, on Thursday afternoon.
Police believe she was also sexually assualted during the attack.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, the woman's neighbour found her body lying on the floor in the lounge of the house at around 5.30. He said that she appeared to have been strangled with a telephone cord.
The motive of the murder is not yet known.
Sgt Nkohli said that nothing was missing from the house.
Police have urged anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Jacques Nel on 041 996 4581.
