A collection of cultures at the Nelson Mandela International Culture Festival!

Once again, the Office for International Education of the Nelson Mandela University will be hosting their annual International Culture Festival; set to take place on Saturday at the Donkin Village, Heritage Café in Central, Port Elizabeth.

The aim of this festival is to get the community of Nelson Mandela Bay involved in our cultural activities and for the University to showcase its appreciation for diversity on, as well as off campus.

This festival provides a platform for Nelson Mandela University students and members of the public from different cultures, religions and backgrounds to get together under ONE roof and celebrate the city's rich cultural diversity.

Have a look at what went down at last years festival:

International students from the university will be presenting their home countries at this event with stalls with samples of traditional cuisine for guests at no charge. Possible countries represented so far will include Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Botswana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, DRC, Swaziland, South Africa and Lesotho.

Be sure not to miss out on the alluring aromas of the freshly brewed coffee made by the Heritage Café and Mastertons Coffee. For those craving something stronger, Roof Garden Bar (opposite the road) will have you covered.

A four hour live entertainment programme on stage consisting of well-known local artists as well as some upcoming students from the Nelson Mandela University. Performances will include dancing, singing, bands and cultural displays.

Entrance fee is R5, however Nelson Mandela University students can enter for free upon identifying themselves with their student ID cards.

So, be sure to head on down to the Heritage Café from 11am on Saturday for what is sure to be a welcome culture shock.
