Two alleged stock thieves busted near Cookhouse following tip-off

Cookhouse - The swift action of Cookhouse Visible Police members on information received from a source led to the arrest of two males for stock theft.

The suspects are between the ages of 29 and 32 years old.

"During the early hours of Wednesday morning while patrolling the N10 - Cookhouse, Port Elizabeth National road, members noticed a vehicle that matched the description received, about a vehicle which is suspected to be involved with stock theft cases," described police spokesperson, Captain Lariane Jonker.

"The vehicle was stopped and searched. Nineteen sheep were found in the back of the vehicle."

She said that 14 sheep were already slaughtered and five were found alive.

"A case of Stock Theft has been opened and the suspects are due to appear in court shortly."
