Star-studded quarter-finals await in Monte Carlo

Tennis fans can look forward to some star-studded quarter-final encounters at the Monte Carlo Masters today.

From Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Rune to Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will tee off in the playoffs.

Tsitsipas described his last match against Alexander Zverev as an “adventure” after he almost threw away a 5-0 lead in the deciding set to finally win 7-5 and 7-6.

“Wow, this is something that doesn’t happen every day and the momentum swung dramatically from one player to another. I don’t really know what happened,” said the Greek.

Tsitsipas initially fired on all cylinders in the second set, but he lost power out of the blue – almost like the few houses in a South African street when the cables are stolen.

Zverev found his feet and suddenly the score was 5 apiece.

Still, the Athens native was able to dig deep to clinch the match in just over two hours.

“It was a great victory and I am grateful that I was able to tie the knot. It definitely required a lot of mental strength.”

He will face Russia’s Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals.
