Four suspects, including woman, arrested for gunning down complainant in hijacking case

Four murder suspects, three males aged 17, 24 and 25, and a 23-year-old woman, are expected in court on Monday after they were arrested by the Trio Task Team early on Thursday morning in Zwide, Port Elizabeth.

According to the police, "The three male and one female suspect have been linked with the murder of 43-year-old Yandile Mbaza in New Brighton on the evening of 5 March 2017.

"Mr Mbaza was busy eating dinner at home when suspects burst through the front door and shot and killed him.

"He was the complainant in a hijacking case where his vehicle was hijacked from him in his driveway on 1 November 2016."

Two of the suspects, Luvuyo Kwatsha (26) and Zolani Nonyathi (25) were arrested on 4 November 2016 on the hijacking case and remain in custody in St Albans Prison, Port Elizabeth.

"They were due to appear again in April.

"Strong suspicions of this murder, being a witness killing, was investigated by the Trio Task Team and the arrests last night is regarded as a breakthrough in this case," police said.

"They will be appearing on a charge of murder on Monday at New Brighton Magistrate's Court."
