Murdered Motherwell cop's husband remanded in custody
The estranged policeman husband of Constable Nomathamsanqa Ivy Tsitsi, a Port Elizabeth policewoman, who was gunned down outside her Motherwell home, Mlungisi Tsitsi, was on Thursday remanded in custody by the Motherwell Magistrate's Court to the 12th of January 2016. He has been charged with her murder along with three other suspects.
Mlungisi, 36, was arrested after his attendance of the fallen cop's Memorial Service, which was held on Tuesday in KwaZakhele Township in Port Elizabeth..
The three other suspects, Msindisi Bhebhula, Thembani Rorwana and Ndiphe Soqokomashe, were all arrested in the city between Friday and Sunday and were also remanded in custody on Monday by the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court until the 12th of January 2016.
She sustained injuries to the upper body and passed away on the scene.
The motive for the murder is still under investigation but it is understood Mlungisi and Nomathamsanqa were going through a divorce.
The case has become the latest incident where a woman has died at the hands of her spouse.
In April, Port Elizabeth businessman, Christopher Panayiotou, allegedly masterminded the faked abduction and murder of his teacher wife, Jayde.
On Wednesday, Panayiotou and alleged hitman Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, 30, and Sinethemba Nenembe, 28, who was more recently linked to the case, appeared before the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court and the case was postponed to January 11 for further investigation. Read more on this, CLICK HERE.
