PE police arrest several suspects in anti-crime operation
Forty five suspects are to appear in court soon after they were arrested in the Walmer Location, in a 48-hour anti-crime operation between Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the cordon and search operation, which included Crime Intelligence, Walmer police, Public Order Policing, PE K9 unit, Tactical Response Team and local detectives, started at 20:00 on Thursday (28 April 2016) and continued until 04:00 on Friday (29 April 2016).
The SAPS were able to arrest suspects for crimes such as possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms, house robberies, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, drunk and disorderly as well as possession of suspected stolen property.
Naidu added that several firearms and rounds of ammunition were confiscated during the anti-crime operation, and that one of the firearms confiscated is linked to a housebreaking in Walmer which took place in February 2016.
