Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to King Azenathi "Zanelizwe" Dalindyebo and the AbaThembu kingdom.

The Premier and King Azenathi met at the Bumbane Great Place in Mthatha to discuss the challenges faced by the AbaThembu and the local community.

“We are here because we love the people of this province and we are aware that our people are led in this land by their Kings and it’s been a while since we had visit the great place,” said Premier Masualle.

However, King Azenathi said that he was very much shaken by the recent act of cannibalism in Mthatha and called for great security for local communities.

“We are living in cruel world, it never crossed my mind that a person would kill and eat the flesh of another human being,” he said.

The King was also very pleased with the Premier’s visit.

“I am grateful for the Premier’s visit and I’ve noted that you are not only here to visit me, but all the AbaThembu clan and those, who are late - and I’m sure wherever they are, they are happy,” he said.

The Premier also paid homage and laid a wreath at King Sabata Dalindyebo's grave site.

He also observed the AbaThembu custom by giving two bulls, as part of his courtesy visit to the royal house.
