Women’s Day event at Rosemoor Sportsgrounds a huge success

George Municipality Executive Mayor, Ald Melvin Naik, was the keynote speaker at George Municipality Women’s Day event last week at Rosemoor Sportsgrounds and encouraged women to share the best of them with the rest of their immediate world.

Naik encouraged the more than 500 women to find out what they are placed for on this earth and do it to the best of their abilities.

He asked the women from all over George and surrounds to be part of projects the Municipality rolls out and the projects that are still to come. He asked them to make a difference in their homes, in their streets and in their communities.

The women started the day with a march from Rosemoor Community Hall to the Rosemoor Sportsgrounds and had placards with slogans not to abuse women and children.

Ms Beverley McKelley was the MC for the day and kept the crowd going in between speakers.

Cllr Liz Stroebel opened the programme with a few inspirational words where after Zumba trainers got the women on their feet and moving.

After all the jiving Firdoze Mohamed spoke to the women about loving their sisters in the community and how all women have a very important role to play in society. Marinette van Coller from Hope Church motivated the women to ask God for miracles and big things and rewarded two attendees with the most daughters with bracelets.

Glenvor Pretorius and the Pacaltsdorp UCC Brass Band entertained the crowd throughout and Cllr Nosicelo Bungane gave the vote of thanks. The women had lunch afterwards.
