Wife to remain in custody over Sakhekile Ndudula murder

Bulelwa Ndudula, who is alleged to have had a hand in the brutal shooting that killed her husband, a senior African National Congress (ANC) official and now former Chief of Staff in the Eastern Cape Department of Social Development, Sakhekile Ndudula, was on Thursday remanded in custody by the East London Magistrate’s Court.

The 44-year-old woman, who made her first court appearance on Monday, was arrested on Friday in Ntsomo in connection with the murder.

Initial reports had said that Ndudula was gunned down by unknown assailants at his home in Cambridge West, East London, on the morning of 14 September as he was about to depart for work. Read more on this HERE.

However, suspicions soon turned on his widow. 

SAPS Cambridge station commander, Brigadier Nomso Siganga last week praised the investigating team for this achievement.

“I am happy with the latest developments in this case because I had full confidence in my members that they will get down to the bottom of this matter,” said Siganga.

Ndudula is now expected to appear again in the same court on the 8^th of  November.

This is just one of high-profile murder cases to involve spouses to have made headlines recently.

In Port Elizabeth, disgraced businessman, Christopher Panayiotou, who is accused of orchestrating the faked hijacking and subsequent murder of his teacher wife, Jayde, in April last year, is expected to stand trial on the 10^th of October.
