According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, at around 14:45, a man and a woman in a blue VW Polo Playa stopped at a junction on the R334, enroute to Uitenhage, when five men with knives accosted them.

"The suspects allegedly forced a driver into a boot and drove into the nearby bushes where a woman was repeatedly raped and a man stabbed several times in the upper body.

"Before the suspects fled with a vehicle, the victims were tied and left in the bushes."
