Police warn motorists after gruesome hijacking and gang rape in Uitenhage
Police in Uitenhage are warning motorists to be wary when approaching traffic intersections and junctions after a reported hijacking and rape incident that occurred in Uitenhage, just outside Port Elizabeth, on Friday afternoon.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, at around 14:45, a man and a woman in a blue VW Polo Playa stopped at a junction on the R334, enroute to Uitenhage, when five men with knives accosted them.
"The suspects allegedly forced a driver into a boot and drove into the nearby bushes where a woman was repeatedly raped and a man stabbed several times in the upper body.
"Before the suspects fled with a vehicle, the victims were tied and left in the bushes."
Sgt Nkohli said that after a while, the victims managed to untie themselves and walked to the road for help.
Police are investigating a case of hijacking and rape.
