Xtreme Projects: emergencies don't wait for regular business hours, neither do we!
When a timeous response is needed to any-size disaster - be it hazardous chemical spills, overboard rescues or other emergencies that don't wait for regular business hours, most organisations and companies in South Africa have come to rely on Port Elizabeth-based Xtreme Projects™.
The 24-hour emergency spill response company has, since opening its doors in 2004, expanded globally and extended its field of operations to include oil, hazmat and operational support on land and sea.
They were recently awarded the SAMSA Maritime Environmental Award which recognises efforts within maritime companies aimed at reducing their carbon footprint through investment in programmes, education and systems ahead of legal requirements, or to recognise the development of products and services for the maritime industry aimed at reducing or recycling waste and minimising the impact that the maritime sector has on the environment.
Among the 24 hour services they provide are:

This covers operations such as Boom deployment, Global Environmental Cleaning, Man overboard rescues, and O.P.L.
Containment Booms
These are suitable for scenarios including open water, large lakes, ports, oceans, ice packs and high seas.

This unit has a unique operational design that can accommodate any type of Hydrocarbon or Chemical spill. Containers can be changed to the client’s specific requirements, and changed into a wash bay or dip tray decontamination unit.
Spill response
This covers operations such as spill clean ups, Bioremediation; the restoration of soil to a non-harmful condition, and fire restoration; which involves restoring fire damaged areas to their former state.
Trucks
The Xtreme Team have a fleet of trucks ready for any emergency, from super sucker trucks used for sludge and sewage waste removal, crane trucks to lift containers and heavy equipment, and skip trucks for general hazardous, liquid and rubble waste removal.
Dry ice blast cleaning
This is a process in which dry ice particles are propelled at supersonic speed to impact and clean a surface.
Industrial cleaning
This involves the cleaning of large industrial companies. They use a wide variety of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment to facilitate and assist with the cleaning process.
Salvage operations
This kind of operation involves harbour and channel clearance, hazardous towing and rescue tug services, as well as the recovery of materiel, ships, craft, and floating equipment sunk offshore or elsewhere stranded.
Waste removal
This involves the removal of unwanted debris and harmful waste that has accumulated either in the ocean or on the shoreline.
They also offer a variety of spill kits, from standard issue Hydrocarbon or chemical to acid kits, to be placed around the workplace and used for emergency responses to small scale spills. Clients can also customize their kits to meet their own site requirements.
Wheeled waste bins are also offered, and in a range of colours in order to categorise your waste, suitable for any industry and their waste separation needs.
With over 12 years’ experience in pollution control and environmental protection, Xtreme Projects continue to help thousands of businesses, to prevent pollution and comply with regulations, saving on potential fines and enabling companies to be responsible for their waste from cradle to the grave.
