Graaff-Reinet man jailed for life for raping two minors

The High Court in Graaff-Reinet sentenced 26-year-old Nkosinathi Dakuse to life imprisonment for rape and sexual assault of two minor girls.

"The sentences will run concurrently," said police spokesperson, Captain Lariane Jonker.

"It is alleged that on the 22nd of December 2016 the accused lured two 11-years-old children to a vacant premises in the Lingelihle locality and forced them to drink alcoholic.

"He then took one of the victims to his room and raped her and then took the second victim to the backyard of another house in the same street and also raped her."

Suspect once escaped custody and was re-arrested

"The suspect managed to escape but was traced and arrested through the assistance of members of the Highway patrol and K9 unit."

The Graaff-Reinet Cluster Commander, Brigadier Madoda Zamkana, commended Investigation Officer-Detective, Constable Monica Bouwer, for her relentless efforts to ensure that perpetrators, who preyed against vulnerable members in our communities.

“This sentence has ensured that justice has been served and the suspect will be in prison for a very long time,” said Brigadier Zamakana.
