Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's 'urgent' presser to explain load shedding fails to take place

An urgent press conference called by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality to explain how it implements load shedding did not happen.

Some residents have lately expressed unhappiness over how they are sometimes load shedded several times a day -  even when their area is supposed to have power, according to the Metro's load shedding schedule.

There had also been rumours on social media that Eskom would implement load shedding for the whole day today.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality was expected to hold the urgent press conference on Thursday morning "to demystify the implementation of loadshedding and how it is carried out".

"A demonstration of how load shedding is implemented will first take place at the Electricity Control Room, 1st Floor, Munelek Building, where it will be demonstrated how load shedding takes place," the Metro had promised.

"Thereafter, the delegation will proceed to the Munelek Training Centre, where the remainder of the Press Briefing will be held."

However, Andile Lungisa, the Metro's Infrastructure, Engineering, Electricity & Energy did not show up.

The Metro has not given an indication as to when it will hold the briefing.
